Cereal and Ice Cream

Brielle and Britney had a dance competition this weekend in Herriman. Brooklyn and Brynlee love coming as well so we all spent the weekend there watching them dance. I was constantly running out to get them food but since this comp had all their dances spaced out almost one every hour it was hard to find time to get good meals to them. They were exhausted as we left and hungry. I gave them the option to go anywhere for food, and all they wanted was cereal and ice cream. Instead of spend a ton of money on shakes we stopped at Walmart and let them get whatever cereal they want as well as whatever ice cream and topping they wanted. They killed it this weekend so they definitely deserved it!

 

Britney’s Birthday

What a day! Birthdays are so much fun but are always so so busy. Like any kids Britney has been counting down the days and hasn't been shy to let everyone know it was coming. She opened a cute birthday outfit before school and took little unicorn cakes to share with her class. Wednesdays are the hardest day to do any celebrating bc both Britney and Brielle are at dance 3:45-8:45 which is why we celebrated with family on Sunday. Brooklyn and Brynlee had a performance tonight so that didn't make it any easier. Luckily I was able to take the girls to their performance, then leave to run to the studio to bring Britney a special dinner from Zupas. I had asked her teacher to hold Brit for a few extra min after class so I could get all the dancers available to line the hallway with little party poppers. When she came out we all sang happy birthday to her then popped the poppers. I brought donuts for them all to share as well. It turned out to be a lot of fun for her and the most important thing was that she felt special. I was able to run back to watch the girls perform. As soon as we all got home we were able to watch Britney open all her presents and get them all to bed! Brielle was super cute...a couple of weeks ago she came running to my car after school and threw this giant squish mallow in the back of the car. Turns out she has been saving all her class dollars for a long time so she could buy it from their store to give it to Britney for her birthday. I almost cried I was so touched that she would do that. (I ordered Britney a fake ponytail for dance competitions since her hair is so thin. It came today and Britney had a blast playing around with it and pretending she had super long hair. I need to get it trimmed a little bit but I'm super excited to see how it looks on her.)

Britney’s Pre-Birthday Fun

Since Britney dances all night on her birthday we decided to do a fun activity today to celebrate. We picked up 2 of her school friends (Gemma and Cora) after school and headed to Classic Skating. It was fun to watch them run around and play til they were exhausted!

 

New Net!

I had this idea when I designed the house to somehow have a tunnel, net, or some type of platform in our secret passage. I have sat in that little hallway for hours over the past 18 months thinking and analyzing every possible option trying to come up with something fun. I ran across the concept of a hammock floor a while ago and filed it away in my brain as a possibility for this space. I finally decided it was time to make something happen and decided on the hammock floor. I found a net on Amazon then starting thinking through all the different ways I could install it. I had the idea to pull the net down through the 2x4's and attach it to screws underneath. It took me a couple of hours and I and to enlist Brayden and Fernando's help to hold the boards so I could screw them to the wall but it worked! I used a neighbor's miter saw and he offered to come over and inspect my work to be sure it would hold. He helped me upgrade my screws so it was solid and just like that we have a fun cargo net! The girls love hanging out in that space and are always playing on it now! It's hard to see in the pics but it wraps around the corner and ends at the 2nd floor of the playhouse so they can climb in and out of playhouse that way. 

 

Celebrating Britney’s Birthday

We invited Josh's family over to our house to celebrate Britney's birthday. Brooklyn and Brynlee were excited to learn how to make a new dessert...a trifle. I don't know why I haven't gotten out our trifle dish in the last 10 yrs bc everyone loved the trifles! Happy early birthday Brit!

 

Leatherbys

We went to watch Mckinsley and Oakley in their dance showcase and they did a great job! We headed to Leatherbys afterwards for dinner and ice cream. Safe to see they were happy with their ginormous amounts of ice cream that they got to eat.

 

Working with Misty

My girls needed to run their solos with Misty but we also wanted to work on some technique. It was neat for me as a mom to watch all 4 of my girls able to learn together and work together to get better. We absolutely love Misty and owe her so much for how much she invests in my girls and for how much she loves them.
