Josh continues to work on the side doing financial planning. He was invited to go to Lake Powell for 3 days with people from his team and it was a blast. We haven't been to Lake Powell in over 10 yrs so it was good to be back, however it also reminded us how much we love Lake Powell and wish we could come more. Even with the low water levels we loved every minute of it. We stayed in a hotel in Paige and spent the days on the lake with our group of 8. We left at 4am on Thursday, which also happened to be our anniversary, and were on the lake by noon. We went to a fun bbq place for dinner and to celebrate our anniversary. Friday we slept in and made it to the lake around 11. We did a lot of surfing and exploring. Friday night we found an awesome place with live music and dancing. The food was great and it was very entertaining. Saturday was the same as Friday...lots of surfing and looking at all the beautiful canyons. Saturday we headed home after checking out from the hotel and made it home around 4. Short but amazing!
I had been worried for weeks about how my back would do being on the boat all day. It was pretty rough. The first day was ok especially bc I found my "sweet spot" in the back of the boat by laying down backwards with my feet up on the back of the boat for when we were going fast. That really helped cut down on the impact my lower back felt from the choppy water. The second day about did me in. We went a lot farther down the lake, which meant we had a long ways to go to get back to the marina. We were racing the sun setting so the boat was cruising down the lake to get back, which meant we hit the waves hard. My back was a total mess and even laying down didn't help enough to brace for the impact. I cried most of the way back bc it hurt so bad. I could barely move the rest of the night I was in so much pain. I had decided I would stay back at the hotel for day 3, but they convinced me to come and they would stay closer to the marina and go slower through the choppy waves. I'm glad I ended up going bc it was fun to be with everyone and my back did much better.
