Because the resort we stayed in wasn't the nicest, we ended up doing more excursions than we had planned. Today we headed to Paradise Island. It's basically a sandbar in the middle of the ocean. Every day it's a slightly different shape bc when the high tide comes in it shifts the sand around. But to get there we first had to take a 90 min bus ride. We tried to sleep as much as we could but enjoyed the air conditioned bus and ride through parts of the DR. Once we got to our boats we got ready for our 45 min speedboat ride to the island. On the way we stopped by the mangroves...a forest of trees that grow out of the ocean. They were beautiful and fascinating. We finally made it to the island and had about 2 hrs to enjoy it. We have NEVER seen such clear water before. They don't allow shoes or towels on the island so the sand is soft and pure. We had fresh fruit and relaxed. They gave us each a little loaf of bread to take with us while we snorkeled. It was amazing to feed the fish and see how many swarmed around us. The reef and fish were incredible and I've never snorkeled in such clear water before. We hung out for a bit longer then it was time to go. We headed back on the 45 min boat ride, then got back on our bus. We stopped for a wonderful lunch, then stopped at a little cigar making store and watched and learned how they make cigars. We finally made it back to the resort and we were exhausted! We hopped in the pool, showered, and got ready for dinner. We had made reservations at the Rodizio restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. We didn't expect much based on how the buffet food was, but the Rodizio was SO good and we loved it.
