I've struggled with our music room bc I built the house with a grand piano in mind. I knew if I designed the room and decorated it for my upright then it would stay that way and I may never get my piano. I've gone back and forth for 2 years since moving in and it's basically been empty and used for storage occasionally. I know it drives Josh nuts to not have furniture in that room lol. I knew we would never want to just drop the cash and get a grand piano, so I made a few phone calls and decided we could easily finance it. Once I got approval from Josh I started searching for "the" one. I had chances to buy cheaper generic grand pianos over the years but every time I got serious about it I couldn't bring myself to get it. My dream is to have a Baldwin piano. That's the brand I was trained on and every time I play one I am in love with it. Luckily I was able to find a Baldwin at Riverton Music that had a bright sound just like I wanted it. I had to wait while they shipped it in from California but it finally arrived!!! After they set it up and left I stood in front of it and cried. It's a moment I won't ever forget. It brought me to my knees in gratitude for this talent I've been blessed with and all the many opportunities I've had to share my gift. It's a symbol to me of a lifetime of hard work and for all the sacred experiences I've had sitting at a piano arranging music. I was bummed Josh was out of town so I couldn't share that moment with him. It's through his hard work and sacrifice that we were able to purchase the piano and fulfill this dream I've always had. The kids didn't know I had bought it so it was fun to surprise them each when they got home from school.
