Halloween

Halloween definitely changes as the kids get older. This year I ended up with only 2 of the kids to take around the neighborhood. The 3 older kids all went to other neighborhoods with their friends. I took the girls around part of our neighborhood then headed to our old neighborhood so I could walk around with a friend of mine while the kids trick or treated. Since Halloween is on a Sunday we did the trick or treating on Saturday night then had a fun family party with my family on Sunday. We have loved coming up with simple family themes the past year or two, and this year was another fun one...Care Bears!!!

Mini Minerettes

We always try to do the mini minerette dance clinic but always end up busy so the girls haven't been able to do it. So they were thrilled that this year it worked out to do it! They learned the routine on Saturday morning then performed it Wednesday night during the drill team showcase. They loved it! They loved dancing with friends that go to different dance studios and of course Britney now has a whole fan club at Bingham that are in love with her.

Pumpkin Carving at Grandmas

The last couple of years we've started a tradition of carving pumpkins at Josh's parent's house sometime the week before Halloween. It was fun! The kids loved coming up with designs to do and they did a great job!

Brynlee’s Dance Team Party

I was in charge of doing dinner for Brynlee's team so I brought them all to our house for pancakes! Brynlee wanted to turn it into a little Halloween party so we did a bunch of minute to win it games as well. We only had 1 hr 15 minutes so we rushed through it all and headed back to the studio to finish dance classes!

Ward Trunk or Treat

I'm on the activities committee at church so we've been planning the trunk or treat / dinner for a few weeks. I spent the afternoon helping set up for it then was able to bring the family back in the evening. Dinner was great and the kids loved running around getting SO much candy! Brooklyn and Brynlee had friends come with us so they were thrilled to be with them.

Intrigue Dance Convention

We made it back just in time to get the girls to the studio for their dance convention. This is a huge convention and bc of Covid they started traveling around and doing mini conventions in studios for just those dancers. The girls all had a great time, learned a ton, and got scholarships. Brielle is currently an Apprentice for Intrigue so she already has the top scholarship. Brooklyn got a huge national scholarship which will pay for when we go to Florida. And Brynlee got the runner up to the apprentice which gives her free tuition to any convention including Florida for the next year! So proud of these girls!!!

Fall Break - Day 6 Going Home

We had to check out of our house in the morning, but luckily the Brauns are staying a few more days so we went over and hung out with them. We headed to the pier and played volleyball for a bit before we ate and headed to the airport. Then the problems began. On the way to the airport I got emails saying our flight was cancelled.  Ummm what??? We purposely chose Delta bc they don't have cancelled flights very often. I started panicking and freaking out bc the girls had to be to a dance convention at 9am the next morning. I paid $1000 for this convention and I was NOT going to have them miss it. I started texting a few friends for help and I called my aunt who works for Delta. She said not to go to the Burbank airport where we were supposed to go but instead go to LAX bc there would be a better chance of catching a flight home. So we rushed to LAX and I went in to see what I could do. Turns out Skywest's servers went down and they cancelled all their flights nationwide (Skywest covers Delta's shorter flights.) The lady that was helping me was beyond amazing and SO kind and helpful. I explained that my 4 daughters had a dance competition and there was NO way we could wait the 2 days for our re scheduled flight. The problem was that all the people headed to Las Vegas were now being re routed through Salt Lake so all the flights we needed were gone already. This lady tried and tried to find a way for us to get home. We even tried splitting us up to see if that would help. I was frantically looking at using our rental van to drive home or part way home then catch a flight home. Nothing was working. Every time we though we figured it out something would fall through and we would have to start over. She did everything she could and got managers helping too. Seriously that lady went above and beyond. My aunt texted me and suggested checking Seattle, which she did, and she found us a flight and we could ALL go! So we quickly hopped on the flight to Seattle and got there around 11pm. We got in line to have Delta get us a hotel and after 40 min found out they ran out of complimentary hotel rooms. So we found an uber and got a nearby hotel room so the kids could get to bed just past midnight. However we had to wake up at 4am to head back to the airport. I spent the whole night checking my phone terrified the flight home would be cancelled again. So I didn't sleep at all. Luckily the flight was on time and we made it home around 9am. The convention started at 9 so Brynlee was about 45 min late (the rest of the girls started a little later) so it all worked out. I just felt bad the girls were beyond exhausted and then had to go dane for 8 hrs. We feel very blessed that it worked out for us. I wish I knew who that Delta employee was that helped us so I could send her a big thank you note. She saved us. What a day!
