We had to check out of our house in the morning, but luckily the Brauns are staying a few more days so we went over and hung out with them. We headed to the pier and played volleyball for a bit before we ate and headed to the airport. Then the problems began. On the way to the airport I got emails saying our flight was cancelled. Ummm what??? We purposely chose Delta bc they don't have cancelled flights very often. I started panicking and freaking out bc the girls had to be to a dance convention at 9am the next morning. I paid $1000 for this convention and I was NOT going to have them miss it. I started texting a few friends for help and I called my aunt who works for Delta. She said not to go to the Burbank airport where we were supposed to go but instead go to LAX bc there would be a better chance of catching a flight home. So we rushed to LAX and I went in to see what I could do. Turns out Skywest's servers went down and they cancelled all their flights nationwide (Skywest covers Delta's shorter flights.) The lady that was helping me was beyond amazing and SO kind and helpful. I explained that my 4 daughters had a dance competition and there was NO way we could wait the 2 days for our re scheduled flight. The problem was that all the people headed to Las Vegas were now being re routed through Salt Lake so all the flights we needed were gone already. This lady tried and tried to find a way for us to get home. We even tried splitting us up to see if that would help. I was frantically looking at using our rental van to drive home or part way home then catch a flight home. Nothing was working. Every time we though we figured it out something would fall through and we would have to start over. She did everything she could and got managers helping too. Seriously that lady went above and beyond. My aunt texted me and suggested checking Seattle, which she did, and she found us a flight and we could ALL go! So we quickly hopped on the flight to Seattle and got there around 11pm. We got in line to have Delta get us a hotel and after 40 min found out they ran out of complimentary hotel rooms. So we found an uber and got a nearby hotel room so the kids could get to bed just past midnight. However we had to wake up at 4am to head back to the airport. I spent the whole night checking my phone terrified the flight home would be cancelled again. So I didn't sleep at all. Luckily the flight was on time and we made it home around 9am. The convention started at 9 so Brynlee was about 45 min late (the rest of the girls started a little later) so it all worked out. I just felt bad the girls were beyond exhausted and then had to go dane for 8 hrs. We feel very blessed that it worked out for us. I wish I knew who that Delta employee was that helped us so I could send her a big thank you note. She saved us. What a day!
