Britney’s 8th Birthday

What. A. Day. Dance competitions are already busy when you have 4 dancers, but then you throw a birthday in there and it becomes crazy town. Britney turned 8 today and she loved every minute of it! Little Brit genuinely loves everyone and gives the best hugs…so ya she’s naturally become everyone’s favorite. I got her a shirt that says “It’s my birthday” on it and gave her 3 sharpies and she was in heaven asking everyone to sign her shirt.

We were at the competition all morning then headed to Zupas for lunch. We had a short break in the afternoon so we went to the Rush Funplex where the girls enjoyed all the fun activities there. Then we stopped at a place called yonutz…ya it was amazing. The girls loved it!

We headed back to the competition in time for the 4 of them to dance the sister number they do together . Josh was able to come and sit with me as we watched our 4 girls on stage together. Yes we cried. There’s definitely something special about watching sisters dance.

Brynlee had 1 team dance tonight and Brooklyn had 3 so we watched a couple, snuck out for a quick dinner, then finished watching. Josh headed home and we headed across the street to the hotel where the girls passed out from exhaustion.

Happy birthday Britney!! She is definitely a light wherever she goes. I learn so much from watching her just love everyone. She is definitely the life of the party! I got emotional watching everyone all day love her so much and all the hugs they gave her, but at the end of the day…she’s mine and I get to take her home. Love ya miss Brit!

Dance Performance

Brynlee and Brielle's teams were invited to perform in Hilcrest's drill showcase. It was fun to see them dance in a less competitive atmosphere and of course Britney tagged along and loved being there too.

 

Dear Evan Hansen

When this movie came out Brynlee fell in love with it. I think she saw it 5 times before we finally saw it as a family. We all love the music and I love the overall message. Last year when she found out the broadway musical was coming to Salt lake she begged and begged to go. It was on her birthday list, Christmas list, and she didn't let up. We lucked out and got some great tickets through Rachael's husband so we were able to take her. She loved it! It was a little slower than we expected, but there's nothing like sitting in a big theater listening to all the great music. 

 

Intrigue Provo

The Intrigue convention is the one that our studio is invested in and we go to their National competition every year. So my girls have been looking forward to this one for a while. This year was much less stressful than in the past bc Brooklyn, Brynlee, and Britney are all apprentice/true performers which is the top scholarship that they get to keep until they age out. So they got to just relax and help in all of the classes rather than compete for scholarships. Brielle has been the apprentice for the past 2 years but aged out so she is working really hard in the junior room to earn that scholarship again. We stayed in the hotel across the street and it was great to be so close since we had to be there morning to evening Wednesday through Saturday. They competed their solos, sister number, and all their team dances so it was a busy weekend!

 

So. Many. Rhinestones.

I'm on the costume committee at the studio and I'm in charge of all the rhinestoning. I design each costume and arrange to get it all done. It is A LOT of work but something I really enjoy doing. This year I started having the girls rhinestone while on their breaks at dance and it worked out great! It was much easier than making the mom's come to my house to get their costumes done like I did last year. 

 

Cabin Trip

We rarely have a free weekend this time of year but it worked out to head up to the cabin for President's day. We invited my friend Karyn and her family to come and we had SO much fun. They have 4 teenagers and 2 babies so plenty of kids to play with for everyone. The kids did plenty of sledding, games, and lots of movies and video games lol. They played the hand slapping game and you can see how red their hands were from slapping each other. Can't wait to take them again!

Skiing

Josh's work has 4 free day passes to Snowbird that can be used once a day so Josh has taken full advantage of them. Brooklyn had a day off of school so Josh and my brother Justin took Brooklyn and Paige up for the day. They had a blast and did great! Josh is loving that Brooklyn and Brynlee did the ski school this year so he finally has some kids he can take with him skiing.
