Brielle’s Birthday

Saturday birthdays are the best! Brooklyn and her friend Andi were so cute and decorated Brielle’s room last night while she was asleep, made her strawberry crepes and Orange Julius for breakfast, and curled her hair for her so she was ready for her big day. I had my BYU ballroom alumni reunion so I was gone for most of the morning. I was glad that Brooklyn and Andi were so excited to help make it special.

Brielle wants to wait til the pool is open for her bday party so I told her she could invite a friend and choose an activity to do for the afternoon. She invited her twin friends Kendyl and Sloane and out of all the places on the list I gave her she chose to go to Nielsens Custard for ice cream then play at the park (I was thrilled they chose to just be kids and play outside bc it saved me $100 to not go to the trampoline places!!) We came up with the idea to go park hopping so they spent 15-20 min at 6 different parks all within 5 min of our house. At the end of the 15 minutes they chose a fun picture to take for that park. They had SO much fun and I thoroughly enjoyed staying warm inside my car while I watched them. It turned out to be such a fun afternoon for her. We headed to her favorite restaurant, Chuck-a-Rama, for dinner with family then ended the night with presents. We love you Brielle!!

Dance Performances

One of our teachers choreographs for West Jordan High School's dance company, so for their dance concert they invited a couple of Empower's teams to perform a number. Britney performed for 2 nights and Brielle performed on one of them. It was the night before Brielle's birthday so I brought treats and had everyone sing to her. There was a girl on Britney's team who was also having a birthday that weekend so they brought donuts and we sang to her too. It was fun to have a low pressure, fun performance where the girls got to just perform and not stress about it. Good job girls!

Biz Town

I was able to go on Brynlee's field trip with her. They went down town for their day at Biz Town. They spend a few weeks at school learning about how companies run then apply for different jobs. They each get hired and go to Biz Town and run it for a day. Brynlee applied for the CEO of Chick-fil-a and got hired! So she helped run that store and had to be in charge of a list of things. It was fascinating to see how they have everything set up to teach these kids a little bit about economics. I loved being there with her and it was fun to see her running the show!

Cabin Trip

We headed up to the cabin for general conference weekend. Last minute we invited Justin and Ali and they were able to come for part of it. The weekend was full of listening to so many great talks, lots of games, crafts, sledding, and fort building. The weather was great and pretty warm for winter so the kids spent hours outside. Brayden was determined to build a lean-to so he spent the week watching YouTube videos and making sure he had the right supplies. I think he spent 8 hrs the first day and 6 hrs the second day building. Ty got in on the action and built a second one. Not going to lie...they were pretty impressive.  We had 2 burst pipes on the hot water line so that wasn't fun, but at least we had running water. As we were leaving we realized my van tire was flat so it took some time to pump it up. We finally made it home 90 minutes later than planned, but it was still a great weekend!
