Minerettes!!!

We've been preparing for this week all year! Brooklyn has gone to many drill prep clinics, private lessons, and has done everything she can to be ready for tryouts. For months I've even asked her interview questions on the way to school every morning and she was thrilled I got to stop. It was an intense couple of days and I was sick to my stomach the whole time. The first day they learned combos and did a lot of technique.  After it was over and she got some dinner we headed to the studio to practice for a couple of hours. We ended up with 6 girls that were trying out and had asked Kenzie to come help. They were there til after 11. The second day of tryouts Brooklyn spent a good portion of the day working on the combos that they had to audition. She was at Bingham all afternoon and evening at auditions and I was so nervous I couldn't think about anything else. After tryouts all the girls hang out in the parking lot waiting for the list to be posted on Instagram, then those that make it run into the school to celebrate and have their first meeting. All the girls wanted to be a part of it so we all sat in the car with Brooklyn while we waited. As soon as we saw her name she jumped out of the car and ran to hug all her friends. It was really fun to be a part of and I loved watching Brooklyn get welcomed into this new life with so many open arms. Congrats Brooklyn!!!

 

Good Luck!

There are a lot of girls at the studio that are at the age where they can try out for high school teams. Brooklyn's team has been the best friends for years, so they are all extremely sad knowing that everyone is now going in different directions as they try out and make teams at their high schools. They have cried a lot and spend a lot of time supporting each other through all of it. I loved getting this picture of girls from her team huddled around telling the girls trying out for Bingham's drill team good luck. And I love that one of them wanted to capture the moment as well by taking a selfie. 

 

Reflections

My girls love entering the Reflections contest at school every year...and every year at least one of them makes it to the state level. They used to spend the whole summer choreographing a dance to submit, but now we don't have time for that lol. So I take them to the studio and give them 1 hour to improv to a song 2-3 times then we enter the best one. It's been awesome to see how much their improv skills have improved year after year. The last 2 years Brynlee has taken 2nd at state and this year she received an honorable mention (this year she was against the middle schoolers). South Jordan recognized the state winners from South Jordan during one of the city meetings, so it was fun to take Brynlee to that. 

 

St. Patrick’s Day

Lucky the Leprechaun visited our house again this year! I could hear the girls in the morning running around the house looking for the treasure he left behind. I'm going to miss this stage...

 

Braces!

No kid ever wants to get braces, but they always are excited at the idea of straight teeth. Now it's Bryn's turn. She was pretty nervous and afraid she would look bad with them, so she was pleasantly surprised that she doesn't look horrible! She will have these braces on until her canine teeth grow in, then they will consider Invisalign.

 

Minerette Showcase

The girls were excited to go to the Minerette showcase. It's fun that we know so many of them now and I was glad that it worked out with our schedules to all go. Brynlee's team was asked to perform in it so it was fun to watch her as well. We stopped at Modpizza for dinner on our way then enjoyed the showcase. Throughout the evening they did contests for the kids where they could win prizes. Brit really wanted a prize so when they did a military face contest she ran down there. Everyone was dying over how cute she was. And ya...she won so she got her prize. Brooklyn is trying out for drill this month so it was fun to get a glimpse into this life if she makes it!

 

Celebrating Brit

Since we were in Provo for Britney's birthday we decided to celebrate with family on Sunday. She loved all the attention, the giant donut, and getting a few more gifts.
