Brooklyn's 7th Birthday Party

We had Brooklyn's bday party at the rec center this year. She had 15 friends, as well as some cousins. It was a blast! And such an easy party for me!!! The kids had so much fun playing. After 90 minutes of swimming we headed into the party room for presents and donuts. Such a fun party!

Miss Brit

Britney continues to grow and learn new things. She's not the happiest baby, and I think a lot of that has to do with not being able to do what she wants. As soon as she could sit and play with toys she got SO much happier. I'm guessing as soon as she starts crawling she will be even happier! We started foods and it's always funny to see how little they are in our big chair! She loves sitting, playing with toys, and is even scooting across the floor.

Sick Boy...(and kids and husband)

Brayden was the first to get sick. The poor kid was miserable. He missed school Tues and Wed, felt great and went to school on Thursday, then threw up again and missed school on Friday.  I found him asleep in many various places, even under his bed! It was a nasty bug that made it's way through the family, except for Brooklyn and me. I was so tired of cleaning up throw up and changing diarrhea diapers by the end of the week. Like I said in the last post...Josh learned his lesson. He was home from work for a few days trying to recover. Not fun!

Cabin Trip

We headed up to the cabin again for a fun and quick weekend. We invited Josh's old boss, Jake and his family. They ended up not being able to come up until Saturday evening and left Sunday morning, so they weren't up there very long but it was still fun. Friday night we spent the whole evening cleaning and gutting the basement of the cabin. I bought bunk beds and it was fun to clean and put those up. It looks and feels SO much better! Unfortunately for our friends, their 8 yr old girl, Ava, started throwing up on the way up there. Josh convinced them to come anyway and that turned out to be a bad idea. Let's just say I wasn't happy when they arrived with a sick girl. It was no fun for them to have to care for her up at a cabin when she just wanted to be home. They were up all night with her and got no sleep. And as I predicted...it spread to our family. Brayden, Britney, Brynlee, Brielle, and Josh all got super sick days after. Luckily Brooklyn and I stayed strong and healthy. And this wasn't a quick 24 hr bug...it lasted days with puking and diarrhea. I was pretty mad the whole week. Josh definitely learned his lesson and felt bad he guilted them into coming anyway. Ugh...to say I was a little upset the following week cleaning up puke and taking care of sick kids is a complete understatement. Apparently I'm still a little bugged...

Anyway, back to the cabin. The kids had fun and we still enjoyed the weekend.
Here's a super gross worm the kids took pics of. Yuck.
Mack was in heaven and absolutely loved being at the cabin. He was super sad when they had to leave.
We headed out for a walk and enjoyed the warm weather. The kids had their scooters because I picked them up from school.
Ok...so here is the bear story. We were outside playing and the kids wanted to ride their scooters so we said ok. Josh and I went back inside with the 3 younger girls while Brayden and Brooklyn were riding. I was busy trying to clean and pack everything up so we could go. I was in the master bedroom and looked out the window and saw a bear cub rolling around in the water barrel...about 10ft from the back of our cabin. AHHH!!! Are you kidding me? I freaked out and totally panicked since I knew the kids were outside and I had no idea if mama bear was close by. I yelled to Josh and since the window was open the bear startled a bit and hopped out of the barrel. He just started walking up the hill. I was running around with adrenaline and panic trying to find my camera and make sure the kids were safe. I finally got my camera and took 1 picture, then started recording a video. After 6 seconds the dumb memory card was full and stopped. So frustrating!!! I couldn't believe we didn't get a pic or video. I spent the rest of the day thinking about it non stop, being mad it didn't happen 20 min earlier when we were all inside and could've gotten cool pics. However, I finally realized I needed to be grateful that it wasn't 20 min later when the kids could've been in the back playing. So...it is what it is. Now I'm super freaked out about the kids playing in the back. I sent the video to all the Ericson's as soon as we got cell service and they went nuts. None of us could believe it actually happened. Josh ended up buying a motion camera and put it up there. We haven't been back up there to get the memory card, so we'll see if they have come back while we were gone!
Brayden took this pic of a deer right before we left.

Brooklyn's Town Day

When Josh was growing up, every year during the month of his birthday his grandma would take him on a town day. They would go shopping and do something fun. Josh's mom is wanting to continue with that tradition and started this year with Brooklyn. She surprised her one morning and took her to the Hale Center Theatre where they got to see the Little Mermaid playing. She loved it! They went to lunch and did some shopping afterwards. The other kids were jealous and can't wait for their town days!

Summer Soccer

Brayden played soccer in the summer, and although it was hot he had a great time. He hasn't played soccer for a while bc the neighborhood boys have played flag football the last 2 yrs. Doing soccer again helped Brayden remember how much he loves to play soccer. He scored lots of goals and loved every minute of it!
