Cancun - Day 2 (Resort)

It's fun to wake up and have no plans. We didn't want to do anything on this trip but enjoy the time to play with each other and relax. Once we got up and finished breakfast, we got ready to go check out the beach. Unfortunately the beach in front of our resort was terrible. Rocks everywhere! I couldn't believe it...All I've wanted was to play with the kids on the beach for hours. We asked around and found out that we needed to walk 10 minutes up the beach to find a place to play. So we headed out to find some sand! The kids loved having warm water to play in, even if it was a little wavy. They didn't last as long as I had hoped...the salt in the eyes bc I left the goggles in the room was a little much for them. After the beach we headed back and hopped in the pool to rinse off. They had hamburgers, fries, and hotdogs poolside so we snacked on that for the afternoon. We showered and got dressed to head to the Mexican restaurant for dinner. It was another great dinner and another great day!

Cancun - Day 1 (Resort)

Our resort was about an hour from the airport so it took a while until we were all at the resort together. I felt bad when I got to there and realized that the checked luggage with all the kids' swimsuits was with my group. So the kids had no way of swimming in the afternoon while they waited for the rest of us. Oops. Oh well...the napped and relaxed while they waited. We had wanted adjoining rooms but they didn't have any available so they gave us 2 family suites next to each other. They ended up being the best rooms in the resort! The balcony of those 2 rooms was about double the size of the rest of them and it looked over the performing stage and pools. The kids were able to hop over the little dividing fence between balconies and go back and forth between the rooms. It was perfect for us! We decided to put Steve and all 5 kids in one room with Josh and me in the other room. That way we could put all the kids to bed in one room and then the adults could stay up and watch tv and relax. It was really nice in the mornings to have the kids in the other room so Josh and I could sleep in. We hit the buffet to eat and scouted out the resort. Of course the kids wanted to go swimming so they changed and hit the pool. For dinner we headed to the Italian restaurant which ended up being SO good! We played games at the table while we waited for out food and just enjoyed being all together. This resort was literally downtown Playa del Carmen. We didn't realize we would be staying so close to all the shopping and business districts. It was definitely different than any resort we've ever been to. It didn't feel as secluded as other resorts, but it was fun to walk to shop whenever we wanted. We all were totally exhausted and didn't have any trouble falling asleep!

Cancun - Day 1 (Travel)

Our trip finally came!!! We've been looking forward to this trip for such a long time. I've been wanting to take the kids to Mexico for years. It was tricky to work out all the details with Josh's work's travel agent, but she was great to help us. Josh ended up taking 3 kids (Brayden, Brynlee, and Brielle) with him on Delta with the rest of the work people that won the trip. I took the other 2 kids (Brooklyn and Brooklyn) on United with our sky miles. We ended up having enough sky miles to bring Steve along with us as well! Josh and his group flew out at midnight on Monday night, had a layover in Atlanta, then got to Cancun around 12:30pm on Tuesday. My group flew out at 5am on Tuesday morning, had a layover in Denver, then got to Cancun around 3:30pm. It's always rough traveling through the night, but the kids were troopers and did great! I love that they are all old enough to require little attention from us! It's a huge difference from the last time we flew. Josh only took one pic while traveling, but I took a bunch. Brooklyn and Britney had a blast running around the airport.

Beads!

Brooklyn has been loving putting beads in all the girls' hair. I have to admit it's pretty cute. They love coordinating the colors to their outfits!
