Another drill comp and these 2 couldn't be cuter!

 

State Dinner/Doors

There are so many amazing traditions that the drill program has. I've been excited to do state doors for years as I've seen other past Minerette moms post about them. It definitely took me all night to get it done but it turned out SO cute!

Brooklyn also had her pre-state dinner! Only the senior parents are invited to attend so we didn't get to be there with her. But we heard it was awesome and such a good experience.

 

Friends

Brielle has a great group of friends and they love hanging out together. 

 

Desert Star

My mom invited me to go to the Desert Star Playhouse with her. The play was Pirates of the Carribbean and it was probably the best play I've seen there. I couldn't stop laughing and loved it! Thanks mom!

 

Arcades

We took the youth of the ward to the mall to play arcades. Of course the boys loved it but I was surprised how much the girls loved it too!

 

Drill Bears

Brooklyn has begged me all year to make the costume animals for her drill team. I was pretty adamant that there was no way I could do it for 27 girls and 3 coaches, but she talked me in to it. More bc I figured out how to easily replicate their show costume so I went to work! The hardest part is always finding the right material and it took me forever. I tried all the fabric stores as well as a few department stores. I finally found a women's dress at Ross that was the perfect color. It was little pricey bc I needed 2 dresses but I was thrilled to have found something. I literally used every scrap of fabric to finish them. My sister came over and helped my rhinestone them, and Brynlee and her friend helped me with the final touches. It was a race to get them done in time to hand them out after they performed their half time routine during the bball game. But it was all worth it to see their faces when I handed them out to them!

 

Drill Competition - Region

We were favored to win Region but you never know. These girls killed it and left no question that they deserved to take first. It was fun to finally get to see all the teams in our region bc we know so many girls on all the teams. 

 

National Anthem

Definitely need to document this moment. The Minerettes sang the national anthem at one of the basketball games. Let's just say they should stick to dancing...

 

Drill Comp - Roy

Didn't love driving up to Roy, but it's always fun to go watch the drill team compete!

 

Solo Night

Karyn asked if she could use our gym to hold a practice solo night. It was a good chance for us to use the gym for something other than sports so we did our best to make it work for what she was wanting. And it went great! All of her soloists and a couple extras all got a chance to perform their solos for judges and received critiques. It was extra special to have our cousins Mckinsley and Oakley come and do their duet!

 

Twinning

I got this pic from Brit's teacher bc they were twinning! We love Mrs. Edgel SO much! Her daughter and Brynlee were good friends all through elementary school so it's been amazing to have her teach Britney. And Britney got extra lucky bc she had Mrs. Edgel in 2nd grade and now again in 3rd grade!

 

Region Pinning

I didn't know what a region pinning was, but it turned out to be a cool experience. All the girls got to receive a pin from either the principal or vice principal. They touched arms and said "It's a great day to be a Miner!" Then received their pins. 

 

Book of Mormon Painting

We painted Book of Mormons at mutual tonight. The girls spent the day looking for ideas online of what to do and they both did a great job!

 

Washington DC

Another Intrigue convention! Britney continues to love being an assistant. She has the best time with the other assistants...even the older ones. It's a lot of hard work, long rehearsals, and so much learning and growing. It really is such a dream opportunity and it's so amazing to watch her do her thing. We shared a hotel room with one of the other mini assistants, Blakely, and her mom. Brit was in heaven and those 2 definitely lived their best life this weekend.
