Lil Sis, Big Sis

Sometimes my kids disappoint my by how they treat each other, but other times they exceed my expectations and surprise me. Britney called me crying from the studio bc she had a headache and her ballet teacher told her she couldn't sit out of class. I told her to go find Brooklyn so she could help calm her down. Brooklyn called me and I told her to help calm her down and that she didn't need to go back to class and that she could sit in Brooklyn's class and watch since I couldn't go to the studio at that time. Well when I got there an hour later not only did I find Britney in Brooklyn's class but she was up and participating. Brooklyn and the other girls on her team were helping Brit learn the steps they were working on and were all so sweet to her. I asked Brooklyn about it after and she said, "I told Brit after she stopped crying that if she was going to be in my class she needed to get up and dance." I love it. She is such a mini mom and makes great decisions when it comes to the other girls. And not only did she tell her to get up and dance but she helped her with the steps. Warms my heart.

 

Bball Dinner

The team dinner for the freshman and sophomore basketball teams was at our house this week. We did a nacho bar and the kids loved it. Normally they eat and take off but tonight they hung out for hours. Brayden even left for piano lessons and a bunch of kids stayed lol. They played in the court, the ball pit, and hung out in the theater. Great group of boys.

 

Driver’s License

I've been waiting for this day longer than Brayden has lol. He turned 16 back in November but bc of scheduling conflicts with basketball and Christmas break it took 6 weeks to get all his range and driving hours completed. We finally had everything done and headed to the DMV to get his license. We got there and since we had an appt we skipped the long line and started the process of getting it all done. Ummm...there was a traffic test apparently he didn't take since he did all the course work online. None of the driving teachers at Bingham told us we had to get that done so we were blindsided by it and I wasn't happy. So we stood outside where we could get service and together we guessed on the 40 questions, memorized the answers, then completed the exam so he could get his license. I was NOT going to leave the DMV without a license. Of course we had already used our appt spot so now we had to stand in the long line of people without appointments. I was annoyed. But we got his license and walked out of there on cloud 9. We stopped at Brayden's favorite restaurant for lunch then got him back to school. Life is about to change and I couldn't be happier about it!

 

BFF’s?

I love hanging out with my sister's and definitely consider them some of my best friends. I frequently wonder if our girls will end up being friends when they are older since they tend to be typical siblings and fight often. Since I'm thinking about this all the time I also notice all the times where they genuinely enjoy being together. They are always playing games, dancing, and being together so it gives me hope that one day they will consider each other bff's and end up choosing to be together when they don't actually have to be.

A Little Distraction

Brayden is working on being a more consistent shooter. He goes at 6am every morning and shoots at the high school with the automatic ball return so he gets up hundreds of shots every morning and has a really high percentage. But during the games he doesn't all hit his shots consistently. So we decided he needs to get better at shooting with distractions. We may have taken it to a whole new level as the girls chased him around the court, flapping their arms like birds, and yelling "Caw! Caw!" It was pretty hilarious but so awesome that the girls were willing to pitch in and help.

 

Friends

It's fun running into past teammates that Brayden has played with. Bingham played West Jordan so Brayden got to play with a few of his teammates he's played with sine 3rd grade. I only got a pic with Spencer, but Dodger and Tristan are also on West Jordan's team. It was fun see them all play against each other! (Bingham won, in case anyone was wondering.)

 

Performance

Drill showcase season has begun. Our studio always gets asked to perform at the surrounding high school's showcases and the girls love doing it. This performance was with Brynlee's team performing at Jordan High School.

 

School/Craft Time

We love Sunday afternoons. They are relaxed and the kids get to chill and enjoy not having to go anywhere or do anything. I couldn't find the 3 girls so I went downstairs and found them playing "school" and doing arts and crafts. I love when I get to see them getting along and having fun together. And the best part was they did "homework time" and got all of their actual homework done!

 

24/7

First convention of the season! Brooklyn went with the travel team to 24/7 and loved it. They only competed solos and took classes where Brooklyn was recognized with a scholarship!

 

New Bedroom

Brynlee is growing up and has been wanting a more "teen" looking bedroom. It took me months to gather all the stuff and figure out where to put it, but with the help of my sister and sister in law they helped me design it all and I finally was able to do it while Brynlee was at school and surprise her when she got home. She loves it! It turned out SO cute!

 

Pendleton Christmas Party

We were able to have my mom's side of the family over for our Christmas party. It was fun to see my cousins and everyone's growing families. 

 

Bball Game

Brayden had his last Utah County game today so I let my family know and a bunch of them came to watch. He played well and they beat a hard team so it was a great game for them to go to!

 

Dr. Pepper Anyone?

If you only knew how many times this has happened over the years. Josh puts a soda in the freezer to get it cold before he drinks it then he forgets about it. Usually it's Mt. Dew and it will explode in a corner. But this time it was Dr. Pepper and the explosion wasn't contained. It literally looked like someone was murdered in our freezer...it was everywhere! Pics don't even come close to showing what the damage was like. 

 

Game Night

The studio cancelled dance classes bc of the snow so we decided to have a game night complete with skillet cookie sundaes. It was fun and the sundaes were SO good!

 

Cabin Trip - Part 2

So. Much. Snow! We knew it was going to snow a lot while we were at the cabin this weekend but it's a whole different story when you are in the middle of it. I think we ended up getting 2.5 feet of snow. Luckily it had tapered off by the time we had to leave so we didn't have to drive in it. There was plenty of sledding, snowmobiling (getting it unstuck was fun), and a whole lot of games and fun inside the cabin. We loved that the girls all had a friend with them so they were always busy. The ranger doesn't do well in fresh snow so we had to haul all our stuff down the driveway and part of the road to where the ranger could go. We planned on it taking about 2 hrs to get packed up and on our way but it took 4 by the time we shoveled out the vehicles and got them unstuck. It's crazy how much snow we got!
